Williams Racing have debuted their first Formula One car under their new management with a hint of a throwback in the livery. Also F1 announced that the TBC slot on the weekend of May 2nd will take place at Portimão under the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The unveiling of the FW43B today was ruined by hackers which forced Williams into a more traditional launch on Social Media. The independent manufacturer was set to show the 2021 challenger through an Augmented Reality (AR) app in what would have been a first for the sport in the car launches. The team released a statement on Twitter about the ruined launch:

In a statement about their new car that the team released today, they said, “Whilst evolutionary on the technical side due to the regulations, hence the designation FW43B as opposed to the FW44, the 2021 car will race with a dramatic new visual identity sporting a livery inspired by Williams’ all-conquering cars of the 1980s and 1990s, combining blues, white and yellow accents.”

Going into their first full season in F1 without a member of the Williams family calling the shots, Williams Racing will be hoping to improve from the last few seasons which has seen them score just a single World Championship point since the start of 2019. After seeing what George Russell can do at the Sakhir Grand Prix last season, it would be great to see him competing in the midfield battles which will be a huge part of the 2021 season.

Ferrari are the final team to launch their 2021 car and that will be happening on the 10th March. 2 days later, we’ll finally be able to see them on the track for pre-season testing in Bahrain.
